Preventing dumb or typical scam

Quitting Runescape Scam:

If someone in runescape says something along the lines of "Quitting runescape follow me to win 1000k and items", you can follow him and end up being scammed or you can report him when he says it or follow him, but once he says give me your best item report him. Do not stop and wait report him for item scamming. This ensures that Jagex receive an accurate item scamming report and they can take the necessary action against the player doing this type of scam in runescape.

Low level player trying to scam higher level player:

Another scam I have seen in runescape was when a noob sees a high level player and follows them to get full rune, zammy, saradomin or guthix. Then you follow him and he says take off all your armor and give it to me and a man will appear and give it to you. He then he says I did it on my main account before it got hacked, then wait 2 min and he will appear so you give him whatever he wants and then he runs away and you lose your item. He escapes without any punishment unless you have reported him during the time he was blatantly lying about the man appearing etc.

Both of these types of scam in runescape involve trusting another player, there are plenty of runescape scam variations available in the game and all players are urged to make themselves aware of the basic runescape scams to prevent themselves becoming yet another victim. Both the scams outlined above are variations of the runescape trust scams and if these type of incidents do not get reported ingame to Jagex, then the person doing the scam will be able to easily continue their scamming and making the game harder for the majority of honest players.
