1. My pickaxe got damaged when mining a rock. How do I repair it and why did it happen?
Firstly, you can repair the pickaxe at the shop run by Nurmof who is located in the dwarven mines. Secondly, the rock you were mining at the time started to smoulder. This is a random event on mining to catch out people using macros and auto-miner programmes and it provides good evidence to Jagex when people are using those programmes. Next time you are mining and you see the rock starting to smoke, just move away and mine another rock or wait until the rock no longer smokes.
2. Can I make a pickaxe to help my mining?
No, you cannot make a pickaxe from any skill. Players can purchase a pickaxe from Nurmof who is located in the Dwarven Mines or members can also buy a pickaxe from Keldagrim Shop.
3. How do I enter the mining guild?
The quickest route to enter the mining guild is behind the bank at Falador. Players will need to have a mining level of 60 to enter or level 59 and a dwarven stout to boost their mining skill by +1 to enable entry to the guild.
4. What is the best way for me to level my mining skill?
To level your mining skill on runescape you should always aim to wield the best pickaxe that you can. In addition, mining lower level ores (like iron ore compared to coal), can mean you get more experience in the same time as iron ore is mined at a quicker rate than coal. Mining close to a bank is always beneficial as you will be able to bank your ores to sell later or put to some other use. There is also a list of mining tips that can be checked to see if there are more efficient methods of doing something that you are already doing.
5. What ores can I mine on runescape?
The following ores are available to mine on runescape for non-members:
Rune Essence, Clay, Copper, Tin
Iron, Silver, Coal, Gold
Mithril, Adamantite, Runite
Members may also mine the following ores on member servers in Runescape:
Bluerite, Limestone
Sandstone, Granite
Gem Rocks at Shilo Village
