Runescape offers players the ability to mine resources and smith armour. It is a virtual economy in itself within the game as many players will choose to specialise in one of these skills or even both of the skills and become self-sufficient in their runescape economy.

Mining is a stable method of earning a good income in the game, although it can become tedious and may not be rewarding enough for some players who fail to find the right people to buy their resources. Many players will simply sell below the market value in order to clear out their inventory rather than being patient and finding the buyer at a better price.
