Using Cooking in Runescape

by: Latona

Training Cooking:

Cooking in runescape is one of the most widely used skills and among the easiest to gain experience in. However, to get great cooking experience you may have to train to a decent cooking level whereby you fail to burn any food. To achieve this you should be around level 65 cooking and train using lobster primarily. The most common food to train on will be fish as they are normally available in good quantities as fishing is one of the more popular skills. Other food available to cook adds variety to this skill but not necessarily any benefit for training.

Level: Activity: Useful For:
Level 25 Salmon Decent training food
Constant Experience
Level 30 Tuna Decent training food
Easy Experience
Level 40 Lobster Making money
Fast Experience
Level 45 Swordfish Good for non-member wilderness
Good Experience
Level 80 Shark Making money
Excellent cooking Experience

Level 25 Cooking:

At level 25 cooking you are able to cook Salmon. They give 90 experience each time you successfully cook one. This is especially useful to quickly raise from low level cooking to mid-level cooking. Salmon are also useful when training on lower level monsters that only do low damage attacks. Salmon are also available to member and non-members so can serve a useful purpose as a cheap way to train for low level combat people.

Level 30 Cooking:

At level 30 cooking you are able to cook Tuna. Tuna give 100 experience for each when successfully cooked. Again this is available to both members and non-members alike and offers 10 hitpoints restoration. This ensures it is again suited as a good low to mid-level training food for both Cooking and Combat. In addition, Tuna is also required for other higher level cooking options available to members so can aid the preparation for those wishing to try out other recipes suchs as Tuna Potatoes etc

Level 40 Cooking:

At level 40 cooking you are now able to cook Lobsters. This yields 120 cooking experience and is one of the most traded foods on Runescape for both members and non-members alike. Consequently, lobsters are highly sought after to gain cooking experience and for training mid-level to high-level combat. Each lobster will heal 12 hitpoints and is often used as a food source in the wilderness due to the overall supply available. Lobster also offer players the ability to merchant them for good returns on money invested.

Level 45 Cooking:

At level 45 cooking you are able to cook Swordfish which offer 140 cooking experience and heal 14 hitpoints. Swordfish are the highest healing food on non-member worlds that can be consumed in one bite. Consequently swordfish offer the best option to people fighting in the wilderness. The best location to sell swordfish is usually at edgeville bank as that is where most Pkers will hang around. It is a niche market and demand is volatile although with the experience gained for cooking and fishing the swordfish then a decent payoff in terms of experience is received while you should be able to make some money from these.

Level 80 Cooking:

At level 80 cooking you are finally able to cook Sharks. Each shark will give 210 experience for cooking and will heal 20 hitpoints in one bite. There is usually a strong demand for sharks as many higher level players use them for training as well as fighting high level monsters such as the Kalphite Queen and the Dagannoth Kings. In addition, Pkers on member servers will wish to have at least sharks to give them a better chance of survival.

The market for Sharks is strong for both the raw shark and the cooked version. The reason has already been stated why they are in demand when cooked although the raw version is highly sought after as they offer a very quick return on cooking experience. Nowadays with the cook x option on ranges, sharks are always in demand for players wishing to raise some quick cooking levels or gaining more overall experience. Again Edgeville bank is a good location to sell sharks as well as the fishing guild north of Ardougne.
