Crafting Jewellery

by: Latona

Making jewellery is a huge part of crafting. It is especially useful for people who die a lot as it offers a quick way to being able to replace equipment such as amulets and rings. It also offers a way for players to get the most out of the gems they accumulate from monster drops or when mining.

The base resource for crafting is gold bars. These can be either bought from other players or mined and smelted into bars yourself. They are used to make the more traditional forms of Jewellery, such as rings, necklaces and amulets.

To make an item from gold you simply need to have a gold bar as well as a mould in your inventory ( ring mould, necklace mould or amulet mould). Use the gold bar on the furnace and a menu will appear containing images of the items you can make, select the one you want and work will begin. You can also make jewellery with cut gems. The tables below show the level required to make jewellery items and the experience gained from doing so.

Ring: Level: Exp Gained:
Gold Ring 5 15
Saphire 20 40
Emerald 27 55
Ruby 34 70
Diamond 43 85
Dragonstone 55 100
Onyx 67 115

Necklace: Level: Exp Gained:

* If you string an Emerald Amulet with a Magic string and enchant it, you will be able to make the Amulet of Nature.

Gems:

As shown in the tables above gems may be added to make more interesting jewellery items providing more functionality and additional bonuses. However, you do require to be a certain level to cut gems. The higher your level the more gem types you can cut. The tables below show the levels required and the experience gained.

Gem: Level: Exp Gained:
Saphire 20 50
Emerald 27 67.5
Ruby 34 85
Diamond 43 107.5

Shilo Village Gems:

On Karamja at Shilo Village players who have completed the Shilo Village Quest are able to mine additional gems.

Gem: Level: Exp Gained:
Opal 1 15 (3.8 if crushed)
Jade 13 20 (5 if crushed)
Red Topaz 16 25 (6.3 if crushed)

Opals can be useful as they can be made into bolt tips for crossbow bolts. By using a chisel on a cut opal, two opal bolt tips will be produced and 3 fletching experience points at a time.

Stringing:

For adding string to unstrung items, you will receive 4 crafting experience. To make strung amulets or symbols, simply use a ball of wool with the unstrung item. Balls of wool can be obtained from shearing sheep and spinning the wool or buying from a shop or other players.

In addition it should be noted that to string an amulet of nature, you will require magic string. To make this string, you require Magic roots (gained from digging up a magic tree) and then spin the roots at a spinning wheel.

Silver:

Silver can also be used to gain crafting experience and make a small selection of items. Silver items can be made and strung to help a player boost their prayer bonus.

To make items from silver you only need to take the silver bar and the respective mould to a furnace. Use the silver bar on the furnace and choose the item you wish to make. This will produce an unstrung symbol if you only had a symbol mould in your inventory and you would simply need to add a string to it to complete it.

Item: Level: Exp Gained:
Holy Symbol 16 50
Unholy Symbol(1)* 17 50
Silver Sickle(2)* 18 50
Lightning Conductor(3)* 20 50

* denotes the item is members only.
