Using Crafting in Runescape

by: Latona

Crafting Training:

Crafting in runescape is a skill that is ignored by many people, although it can bring in a good income for those who are dedicated and will help overcome any money worries through some hard work. There is a diverse range of methods to train your crafting skill within runescape, although diversity does not mean easy necessarily. My advice is choose 1 or 2 methods that you are interested in and stick to training your crafting in that way. If you are interested in what you are doing then it will mean your training will go smoothly.

Level: Activity: Useful For:
Level 10 Making Bowstrings Making money
Constant Experience
Level 46 Glass Orbs Making money
Decent Experience
Level 66 Air Battlestaffs Making money
Good Experience
Level 71 Full Blue Dragonhide Fast Experience
Level 80 DragonStone Amulets Good Experience

Level 10 Crafting:

At level 10 crafting you can spin flax into bow strings. This is a very simple way to gain crafting experience as well as being able to make decent money from it. You can pick the flax and spin it for 15 crafting experience each time or alternatively buy flax from others and make it into bow strings. The latter method with save you some time and mean that you will make some money and faster crafting experience, while the initial method of doing it yourself will ensure you gain crafting experience but make more money from your efforts.

Level 46 Crafting:

At level 46 crafting you have the ability to make glass orbs. The orbs can be made into either Water, Earth, Fire or Air orbs using the correct Obelisk. The orbs can be sold as plain orbs or enchanted and sold. The unenchanted orb can fetch a good price although enchanted orbs will be able to get higher prices since they do not need time invested on them to be enchanted.

Level 66 Crafting:

At level 66 crafting members are now able to attach Air Orbs to battlestaffs and will receive 137.5 experience points each time. You are able to buy the plain battlestaff from the staff shop in central Varrock or from the Magic Guild at Yanille. Both of these places will only have a limited stock of 5 normally and may well have lower stocks as people often buy them for this purpose. The experience for attaching the Air Orb to the battlestaff is very useful although being able to have an adequate stock of battlestaffs will prove time consuming. This is more suited to people looking to be more self-sufficient in managing their money and skills experience than those seeking to make great fortures quickly.

Level 71 Crafting:

At level 71 crafting members are able to make full Blue Dragonhide Armour. This is very useful for quick crafting experience as each tanned blue dragonhide will craft for 70 experience points. However, although it is good crafting experience and can be a very quick way to gain experience in crafting, it will prove to be costly. Some of the costs can be offset by alching the blue dragonhide body for 5616 coins or alternatively making full blue dragonhide sets and selling them. Making the sets will only be beneficial if you plan to concentrate on selling them as a merchant.

Level 80 Crafting:

At level 80 crafting members are able to make Dragonstone Amulets. This offers decent experience although obtaining sufficient dragonstones to make it fast crafting experience will prove difficult. It is therefore suggested that you first aim to gather a stock of Dragonstone Amulets in your bank and over time simply trade other players the completed amulet for the raw materials required. It can become a steady way to gain some crafting experience although there are many quicker methods, this method will always hold some benefit as people are always requiring the dragonstone amulet.
