Using Fishing in Runescape

by: Latona

Fishing in runescape must be among the most popular non-combat skills. Fishing offers self-sufficiency for providing players with their training food requirements, has low resources required to be able to fish and for some offers them a good way to make money. Members obviously have more fishing spots available for them to train at than non-members and more type of fish to catch. However, it is a way for non-members to earn a decent income from fishing lobsters as the raw fish prices are normally the same on both member and non-member worlds.

Level 30 Fishing:

At level 30 fishing you are able to fish Salmon. Each Salmon will heal 9 hitpoints and is useful as a cheap food to train your combat stats. Salmon are relatively easy to catch and are therefore also considered as a good fish to train your fishing levels. Members should use Shilo Village as this has a bank nearby to enable you to quickly stock a lot of raw fish.

Level 40 Fishing:

At level 40 fishing you are able to catch Lobster. This is a highly important fishing level as Lobsters are one of the most commonly traded food items on Runescape that are always in demand and offer the opportunity for some to make a decent income as well as significantly increasing their fishing level. Simply stock up as many as you can and then either use Runescape Forums or any busy bank to find yourself a buyer for either the raw or cooked Lobster. Most players use Lobster to train their combat therefore there is always a constant demand for this.

Level 46 Fishing:

At level 46 fishing members will be able to catch Bass. Using a large net will also enable you to randomly catch a treasure chest that can contain a half-key or any gem upto diamond. Seaweed can also be caught and stocked up to sell to crafters making glass or alternatively kept for your own use.

Level 50 Fishing:

At level 50 fishing you are able to catch Swordfish. This is the best fish available on non-member worlds for figting other players in the wilderness. There is a niche market among Player Killers and there is some potential to make a decent income from this albeit the demand is not always constant nor is it in high quantities. Overall Swordfish do offer good fishing experience and has some potential to offer an income.

Level 76 Fishing:

At level 76 fishing members are able to catch Shark. Shark are slow to catch but are always in high demand and can sell at a high price to make it worthwhile investing some time in. Overall Shark are highly desired by Pkers on member servers and by many high level players training combat. Consequently there is a constant demand for Sharks, with raw sharks being especially desired by people wishing to train their cooking skill.
