Making Bolts in Runescape

by: Latona

There are three types of bolt-tips that can be made in runescape to enhance your normal bolts. The table below shows the crafting experience gained from making the bolts.

Bolt Tips: Level: Exp:
Opal 17 1.6
Pearl 34 3.15
Barb n/a n/a

The following table shows the fletching experience gained for attaching the bolt onto existing bolts:

Type: Level: Exp:
Opal Tipped 17 3.2
Pearl Tipped 34 6.3
Barb Tipped 51 9.5

Opal tipped bolts will require you to use opals that can be mined at Shilo Village gem mines. Simply cut the opal with a chisel to get the bolts then attach the opal tips onto the bolt to produce Opal Tipped Bolts.

Pearls can be gained through Big Net Fishing and more accurately from Oysters. Once you have some Osyters simply use your chisel to get the pearls out and make the pearl tips. Then use the pearl tips on normal bolts to produce Pearl Tipped Bolts.

The process for making barb tipped bolts is even more straightforward - once you have obtained barb tips just use them on normal bolts to produce Barb Tipped Bolts. The best place to obtain barb tips is at the ranging guild through exchanging competition tickets for the tips.
