Making Crossbows

by: Latona

Crossbows will require both metal and wood to be completed and therefore will depend on your smithing level in addition to your fletching level.

Players can simply use a knife on a log to make a crossbow stock. All logs apart from magic logs can be used to make the crossbow stock. After making the stock you will need to attach the correct limbs to enable you to complete your crossbow. Each type of log can only be used with a specific type of limb. The table below shows the required stock and limb. No other combinations will work.

Stock: Limbs:
Wood Bronze
Oak Blurite *
Willow Iron
Teak Steel
Maple Mithril
Mahogany Adamantite
Yew Runite

* To be able to use Blurite Ore you will need to have completed The Knight's Sword Quest

Stringing the Crossbow:

Players will be able to make their own string provided they have level 3 cooking and level 10 crafting. Instead of flax being used it is sinew, which is obtained from cooking beef or bear meat on a range (players can choose to dry it out to become sinew). The sinew can then be made into a bowstring using a spinning wheel.

The table below shows the level required as well as the experience for each part of the process of making a crossbow. The total experience for each type of bow is also included.

Crossbow: Level: Stock Exp: Limbs Exp: String Exp: Total Exp:
Bronze 9 6 6 6 18
Blurite 24 16 32 16 64
Iron 39 22 44 22 88
Steel 46 27 54 27 108
Mithril 54 32 64 32 128
Adamantite 61 41 82 41 164
