Magic Tips

by: Latona

Magic plays an important role in runescape for many players. Magic can be used to help train combat or to help make money through the low alchemy or high alchemy spells. Many players like the flexibility that magic offers for people to train their skills, although most players will train it in a similar way. Whatever method is used to train magic, players can easily change once they have achieved their main objective.

Magic Levelling Tips:

  • Level 1 - 55 all players can mage the hobgoblins near the crafting guild. The aim is to get to be able to cast the high alchemy spell rather than wanting good drops.
  • Level 55 - 99 all players can use the high alchemy spell to gain good experience and either breakeven on money or make a profit depending on the choice of item you cast the spell on.
  • Level 45 - 99 members may decide to use Camelot teleport spell while holding an air staff or battlestaff as only 1 law rune will be required per cast.
  • Level 39 - 55 some players may prefer to use crumble undead spell to reach high alchemy as upto 15 points of damage can be done to undead creatures like zombies and skeletons.
  • Level 50+ any member who has a slayer level of 55 may prefer using the Maic dart spell. It is a highly useful attack spell and especially effective against Turoth and Kurask.

Magic Experience Tips:

  • Camelot teleport spell will give a basic 55.5 experience per cast and may only require 1 law per cast if wielding an air staff or battlestaff.
  • Smithers may like to superheat items and gain 53 experience per cast. This is more useful for the higher metals of Adamantite and Runite.
  • The High Alchemy spell will give 65 experience per cast and if wielding a fire staff, fire battlestaff or lava battlestaff will only require 1 nature rune per cast.
  • Magic dart spell has a base damage starting at 30 experience per cast. More experience will be given for hitting higher damage.
  • Stun spell will give 90 experience per cast and is available only to members. Some people will prefer to train using this.
  • Charge spell gives 180 per cast and used to be a favourite training method until its use was slightly altered and cannot now be cast multiple times on a monster.

Runescape Money Tips by Magic:

  • High alchemy spells should always be in your inventory when training magic using damage spells. Cast the spell on any items dropped that has a value of 300gp or more. This will cover the cost of the nature rune used and can be a steady money maker if you make your own nature runes.
  • Buying runes from the shops and stockpiling them to sell in bulk can earn significant amounts of cash over time.
  • While using high alchemy at a bank make sure to use a fire staff, fire battlestaff or lava battlestaff to make more efficient use of your resources.

Other Runescape Magic Tips:

  • When using a staff and maging you should use it in the defensive position to gain a small amount of defense experience as well as hitpoint and magic experience.
  • The PK triangle stated by Jagex means mages are most effective against melee based opponents and least effective against range based opponents. Players can use this while training magic using damage spells on monsters (focus on melee monsters to hit higher and more often).
  • The Wizard Mind Bomb will increase your mage level by +3 for a short time and can enable you to get into the mage guild at Yanille a bit sooner than normal.
  • Wearing items that give a magic bonus will make your spells more accurate and increase the rate of gaining magic experience while using damage spells.
  • Magic potion can boost you mage level by +4 for a short time.
  • Members who use the Chaos Gauntlets can increase the damage they do with Bolt Spells by +3 while wearing these.
  • The Seer ring found from Dagannoth King drops will give +4 attack and defense bonus to mage stats.
