Mining Ores and Gems in Runescape

Members and Non-Members have plenty of ores available to mine within Runescape. In general, free to play servers are generally more crowded and have less mines available than member servers so this may affect the rate at which you can mine on free to play servers. Members do benefit from having more mines available and additional resources to mine. Gems are random and members wearing an Amulet of Glory will have their chances of finding a gem while mining increased over non-members.

The table below shows the ore and the level required as well as the experience for mining an ore sucessfully.

* Limstone, Sandstone and Granite are available only on member servers

** Gem rocks are members only and Shilo Village quest needs to be completed. These rocks give random gems including Opal, Jade and Red Topaz.

Gem Mining:

As mentioned before there are Gem rocks available that will give random gems when they are mined at Shilo Village. However, you may also randomly get a gem from a normal rock when mining. The gem will be one from saphire, emerald, ruby or diamond. In all cases the mined gem will give 65exp. Members can wear a Glory Amulet to increase their chances of mining a gem.
