The Abyss Runecrafting

Members can also use the Abyss as a means to quicker runecrafting as they have access to all altars at the same location. However, you will need to travel through low level wilderness and it is not uncommon that you will be attacked by other players.

Inside the Abyss there are monsters who will automatically attack you and you will receive a skull upon entering and your prayer will be drained. You will not be able to be killed by players inside the Abyss itself although players may have attacked you and lowered your health, so the chances are the monsters inside the Abyss can easily kill you.

The monsters inside the Abyss drop pouches that can help you carry more essence on each trip. The pouches you can use depend on your runecrafting level.

Medium Pouch	25	6
Large Pouch	50	9
Giant Pouch	75	12

As the pouches become used they will gradually degrade and be able to hold less essence per trip. To repair the pouches you will need to speak to the dark mage at the center of the Abyss. Pouches are able to carry either Pure Essence or Rune Essence, but not both at once.

Once in the Abyss, you will have to find your way to the middle of the Abyss. To do this you will need to make your way past random obstacles that require other skills. These skill checks are located along the outer circle of the Abyss, the same place where the abyssal monsters will be attacking you and will be random on each entrance to the Abyss.

Once through the skill checks, you can now access the rifts in the middle circular area of the Abyss. Using these rifts, you can exit to different runecrafting altars. You do not have to be wearing a tiara or holding a talisman to enter a rift.

The abyssal monsters may also drop elemental talismans. An Elemental talisman can be used to gain access to any of the element altars - Air, Earth, Fire or Water. However, it cannot be crafted into a tiara.
