Using Runecrafting in Runescape

by: Latona

Runecrafting on runescape is a skill that offers mages an easy way to produce the runes needed for their spellcasting. Players who are not members will only be able to make the basic runes whereas members will be able to make every rune provided they have the required level. Runecrafting can also be a useful skill to make money with provided you are a member and do not mind the repetitive nature of the process. Non-members can still make some money on lower level runes but the returns are not as great.

Level: Activity: Useful For:
Level 1 Air Runes Making Money
Easy Experience
Level 44 Nature Runes Making money
Level 54 Law Runes Making Money
Fast Experience
Level 59 Double Cosmics Making Money
Level 65 Death Runes Making Money

Level 1 Runecrafting:

At level 1 runecrafting all players will be able to produce air runes at the rate of 1 air rune per rune essence used. The air altar is located relatively close to Falador East bank so the travelling distance is not too much to overcome. The money making ability from air runes is limited unless you have a higher runecrafting level to achieve more than 1 air rune per essence used. Alternatively, anyone can run rune essence for people runecrafting at the air altar with higher skill levels.

Level 44 Runecrafting:

At level 44 runecrafting members will be able to craft their own nature runes. This is when runecrafting can payoff as there is a constant price for nature runes hovering around 300gp each. Members can choose to use either the Abyss or the longer trek to the Nature Altar north of Shilo Village. Dedicated runecrafters using the Abyss will be able to make a higher amount of money that those choosing to use the longer trek to Shilo Village. Players may also choose to hire runners and effectively level their runecrafting skill while breaking even financially.

Level 54 Runecrafting:

At level 54 runecrafting members are able to craft Law runes. This is ideal when players are wanting to simply train their skill level and not worry so much about making money from the skill. There is an established Law Crafting Company that normally operates on world 66 and world 99 when server limits are exceeded. This is likely the quickest method at effectively training your runecrafting, although it can cost a sigificant amount of money due to the prices of the pure essence that is required.

Level 59 Runecrafting:

At level 59 runecrafting members will be able to craft 2 cosmic runes from each pure essence. This can help players make some cash back as well as training some agility if they access the cosmic altar via The Lost City. The main benefit for people wanting cosmic runes is for use in the Mage Enchantment Arena located in Al-Kharid near the Duelling Arena. It is quite quick experience and can bring additional fun to trainin magic by having to gather the correct coloured objects and enchanting them. The novelty of this has now passed and the demand for cosmic runes has lowered, however, there are still ample opportunities for players to make a decent income from cosmic runecrafting if they so desire.

Level 65 Runecrafting:

At level 65 runecrafting members are able to craft their own death runes. All players will need to have completed Mournings End Part II or at least obtained the death talisman required for entry into the temple. If players wish to runecraft via The Abyss, they will need to have completed the quest. Overall, death runes can be runecrafted and used efficiently with the Slayer Dart spell to help mages train their combat skills effectively.
