Thieving Basics
Thieving is a member only skill on Runescape and can be raised easily enough with a variety of means to do so. Members can gain quicker experience in thieving as their level increases. There are no additional materials required to start off thieving and as your level increases you can gain more rewards.
At level 1 thieving you will be able to pickpocket men and women. The experience and the rewards are low but it is only a way to get a higher thievin level and so players shouldn't be discouraged from training this skill.
At level 2 thieving you will now be able to steal from stalls, although initially it will only be from the Vegetable Stall at Miscellania and Etceteria if you have completed the Fremminik Trials. If this quest hasn't been completed then you can start stealing from stalls at Ardougne when you reach level 5.
A third type of thieving is looting chests. The lowest level required to loot a chest is level 13. As you can see when your thieving level increases so does the variety in ways to thieve. Chests may have traps that need to be disabled or can cause you to lose health otherwise.
Overall when you are stunned while thieving you will lose hitpoints. If you decide to train for a long period of time at the same location then it is advisable to bring food with you and to observe your hitpoint level.
