Using Woodcutting in Runescape
by: Latona
Woodcutting in runescape is another one of the favourite skills amongst runescape players. Lower level woodcutting is normally used for firemaking while higher levels will offer a good way for all players to make some money. The main requirement is some time and dedication to accumulate a large stock of logs that you can sell. Woodcutting can also benefit any members who wish to advance their fletching skills and be self-sufficient in creating a sustainable runescape economy.
| Level: | Activity: | Useful For: |
| Level 1 | Normal Logs | Making Money Training Woodcutting level |
| Level 30 | Willow Logs | Fast Experience |
| Level 41 | Rune Hatchet | Faster Woodcutting |
| Level 60 | Yew Logs | Making Money |
| Level 75 | Magic Logs | Making Money |
Level 1 Woodcutting:
At level 1 woodcutting on runescape all players should cut normal logs. They will only be able to cut normal logs initially although can start to make money as well. Players can sell to members who will use the logs to make arrow shafts. If you have a good quantity of normal logs then you may be able to fetch upto 100p each. Demand for these is not always constant and so may be hard to sell for 100gp each, although if you have sufficient quantity you should be able to find some buyers via forums or other fan sites. Alternatively, you can use some yourself to increase your firemaking skill experience.
Level 30 Woodcutting:
At level 30 firemaking players may wish to move into cutting willow logs. These logs are located on river banks and often there are some quite close to banks so you can easily stock your logs. Willow logs are not sold for a high price but can be extremely useful for your firemaking skill and members who wish to train their fletching skill. The experience for cutting willow logs normally increases as your woodcutting level increases so can really help you gain levels compared to higher level trees.
Level 41 Woodcutting:
At level 41 woodcutting all players will be able to wield a rune hatchet. This should be the hatchet used when you cut wood as it offers the quickest rate of chopping. Members who can wield a dragon hatchet will not see any increase in the speed they can cut trees. Players who choose to use dragon hatchets as opposed to rune hatchets should be aware the cost of repairing the two hatchets is different AND that the risk of losing the hatchet head for a dragon hatchet is significantly higher than losing the head for a rune hatchet. Players should therefore be observant while woodcutting and avoiding any additional expenses.
Level 60 Woodcutting:
At level 60 woodcutting all players will be able to cut Yew Logs. Members of course have more areas where they are able to cut Yew Logs compared to non-members although the prices of the logs may be the same. As with all resources it is generally quantity will ultimately determine the price of the logs as well as both the buyer and seller. Players should aim for 250gp - 300gp per Yew Log provided they have a decent quantity of logs for sale.
Level 75 Woodcutting:
At level 75 Woodcutting members will be able to cut Magic Logs. There are not too many locations where Magic Logs can be cut, although players can expect to receive at least 1000gp for each log they wish to sell. Cutting Magic Logs therefore has good potential for income for members. Alternatively, members wo are able to fletch Magic Longbows will want to maximise the money they can make and therefore produce their own magic longbows and cast high alchemy on them to receive 1536gp each longbow. The rate of cutting Magic Logs is lower than for other types of logs so it is generally not used to train woodcutting skill but rather as a way for members to make money.
