Woodcutting Basics

Woodcutting in Runescape is one of the easiest ways for people to make money on Runescape. Wood is always in demand for fletching or simply to get quick firemaking experiece. There are more benefits for members as they can cut better trees and in the case of Magic Logs can receive better payment.

The only tool required for this initially is an axe or otherwise called a hatchet. You can either wield it or have it in your inventory if you do not have a high enough attack level to wield. Members can also use a machete for helping out with their woodcutting by hacking through various bits of jungle.

Generally the better hatchet or machete you use the quicker you will cut down the trees or cut through the jungle. The only exception is for the Dragon Hatchet that has the same cutting rate as a Rune Hatchet.

On member servers while woodcutting you may get bird nests that drop from the trees. There is a chance that they will contain a tree seed which is useful for farming or to sell.

As you will have noticed machetes do not require any level to wield but they do require higher levels to cut through different jungle types. Level 10 woodcutting is required for Light Jungle, Level 20 for Medium Jungle and Level 35 for Dense Jungle.
