Combat Training

by: lewisjblack

Combat training is probably the most popular training as combat is the most popular skill in runescape.

This doesn’t show your combat level it shows your attack, strenth and defence level. I suggest keeping all of them the same level or close like 60, 61, 59 that's acceptable not 40, 89 ,78 that is unbalanced.

There are two types of training. One type I call 3i which is where you where 3 items (plate, weapon and shield) and it doesn’t matter if you die the other type is f.n.t when you wear anything that will help you and bring food so you don’t die and if near enough, then head to a bank or the monastery.

There is another type called monastery where if you train near the monastery (black knights and dwarfs) where you get to 10 points and go to the monastery and talk to Abbot Langley or a priest to get your hits up (also when using the monestry go upstairs and fill your prayer at the altar as you get and extra 2 prayer points).

Tips for training

- Never get bored. If you get bored you will fail and stop training and do something else you should change your attitude to you want to complete this rather than i’m bored.

- Listen to music (itunes or runescape music will do) while you train as it will keep your momentum up.

- Talk to people while you train

- Pick up all bones

Before you start try and buy these items

f2p

iron plate, scimmy and shield
full steel + scimmy
full mithril + long sword
full adamant + long sword
full rune + scimmy

p2p

iron plate, hally and shield
full steel + hally
full mithril + hally
full adamant + hally
full rune + hally
full dragon + scimmy
abyssal whip
granite maul

If you can’t afford everything at the start don’t worry. Once you get higher the drops will start getting really good so you can use them to gain money. Make sure you have everything before each level.

Okay, f2p and p2p levels 1- 5

- iron plate, scimmy and shield - f2p
- iron plate, hally and shield - p2p

Go behind lumbridge castle wearing the items above and kill as many goblins as you can. Remember pick up every bone and bury it and all the other stuff sell at the general store. Soon you will be level 5 in everything which should be your goal. Use the 3i training style.

f2p and p2p levels 5 - 10

full steel + scimmy - f2p
full steel + hally - p2p

These levels are really easy to get up if you kill goblins doing the same method as before. You can change to f.n.t if you want train quicker.

f2p and p2p levels 10 -20

full steel + scimmy - f2p
full steel + hally - p2p

I would say moving to the Dwaren mines to fight goblins as long as you have food this should be quite easy. It is hard to do this the 3i way so use f.n.t. The drops will be getting better and there's a general store in the mines so you can sell everything apart from pick axes, hammers and ores which can be sold to the mining store or the pick axe store. Train your strength to 20 then attack then defence and don’t give up.

f2p levels 20 - 40

full mithril + long sword
full adamant + long sword

Start by gathering loads of food and go to the lvl 22 skeletons in edgeville dungeon and training on them using the same method as with the F.N.T method. REMEMBER : at level 30 defence swap to full adamant and at 30 attack swap to an adamant long sword.

p2p 20 - 40

full mithril + hally
full adamant + hally

I recommend you do the same as f2p or check out the fun method with lvl p2p 40 - 60 and using that with lower opponents (F.N.T ). If not then you can also kill rock crabs as they are brilliant for experience but there is always plenty of people there.

Another good way is to go to Varrock castle and fight loads of guards, make sure you are on a members world so you can pick up seeds for the farming skill. Use the same tactics as you would at Dwarven Mines and bring loads of food so you won't die. If you are going to die then quickly head to the bank and put all your stuff apart from three things in. REMEMBER : at level 30 defence swap to full adamant and at 30 attack swap to an adamant hally.

f2p levels 40 - 60

full rune + scimmy

I suggest heading to Black Knights Fortress and train the monastery way where when you get to 10 hits talk to Abbot Langley and he will heal you. Bring a lobby in case you mess up and bring your best stuff. It is really important in these levels to keep them even.

Another option is to go to the flesh eaters on the second layer of the stronghold. Using this method you bring 3 items (rune plate, rune scimmy and rune kite) then go down into the stronghold then use the portal to go to the end then climb down the ladder and use the portal again then go south and through the south east gate then go to through the next gate. Then run past some aggressive level 50 skeletons.

Once you have got past them go through the south eastern gate and you will see a room full of level 35 flesh eaters. Fight loads until you have 8 hitpoints left, run back to the rewards room to climb down the ladder and then the next 2 until you are out of the stronghold then run to the monestry and repeat what you have just done.

p2p levels 40 - 60

full rune + hally
granite maul

There is two ways to train this one, you could do this a fun way and a way to get quick experience. I suggest the quick experience one but if you get bored then you can always move to the fun way.

Quick Experience

You can either take a visit to the rock crabs using the F.N.T or train on level 25 experiments there is always allot of people training on them but they won’t hit anything on you and they have 100 hits.

Fun Way

This is a very enjoyable way of getting experience if you are a member. Go to Al kharids Duel Arena and find someone your level and say you want to train in the arena and if they say yes then ask them for a duel. Do not put anything down and accept the challenge and have a fight with them and see who wins.

If someone wins by a hitpoint then its a good find, keep on doing it and you will get thousands of experience and you get it all your hitpoints back its very fun and you never lose anything. REMEMBER: at level 50 att and strength change to a granite maul.

f2p levels 60 - 70

full rune + scimmy

Its starts to get harder so I suggest switching to members. If you don’t want, and its your choice, then go to the deadly red spiders and put auto retaliate on and just watch your character destroy the spiders. It will take you along time to get to 70 but its worth it.

You can also fish on Karjama then go into the volcano and if you have done dragon slayer you can kill lesser demons there which are good to train on. If training using this then use the F.N.T method.

p2p levels 60 - 70

full dragon + scimmy (or granite maul)

Many people these levels are p2p so you will find a lot of people training you could do the f2p 60 -70 if you want but I don't recommend it. You could also use the duel arena way or if you want some fun or could train in the wilderness, but it would take ages and will be hard (but you can get good stuff).

As you can see, the higher level you get you start getting more choices of where to train. Now you wear dragon its a definite to get it instead of a dragon weapon you could also use a granite maul. I suggest training on baby blue dragons in the wilderness. If you are training on baby blues then get dragon chain dragon scimmy and a dragon square. If you train on green dragons then you will need an anti-fire dragonshield that can be got from the Duke of Lumbridge for free.

f2p levels 70 - 80

full rune + scimmy

You are becoming a melee master and you have absolutely loads of training opportunities even if not a member. Any of the training places mentioned from 40 + as they are all get you good experience but I recommend something better like high level monsters as you can kill most 100s.

I suggest trying something out your self and challenging yourself as you can't listen to a guide at these levels. I suggest if you really need help then train on giants or anything higher. But at these levels you should be looking around for new training places. If your having trouble I suggest training on lesser demons on karjama or even white knights will do alright.

From 70 + always use the F.N.T method. One thing I have to say is well done if you have got to level 80 att def and str through f2p as that is rarely achieved.

p2p levels 70 - 80

Full Dragon and Abyssal Whip

Before doing these levels read the f2p ones and do what it says, the only difference is that you can do allot more. Now you can wear your abyssal whip. I suggest going for some big dragon ie Red Dragons or Black Dragons or Iron Dragon any of the main dragons really. Just make sure to have food and an anti-dragonfire shield or potions, otherwise the bigger dragons will easily defeat you.

p2p levels 80 - 90

Full Dragon and Abyssal Whip

To be honest there isn’t much more I can teach you. You are Definitely one of the best warriors in the game but don’t let it get to your head these are the hardest levels to conquer. I suggest trying to find the best training place for you or maybe change skills. If your having trouble doing them then train on anything from 70+ or anything over level 150+.

p2p 90 - 99

Full Dragon and Abyssal Whip

Now your the big time. You are famous for your level people look up and love you, you are one of the best warriors on runescape. If you want to get to 99 att str and def then train on anything 80+ or anything with a combat off above 200+ chaos elementals are probably the best thing for it or anything in the Tzhaar caves. Good Luck getting to level 99.
